I don't know why people are upset at the thought of Jacobs dispensing FUD.

Isn't it better for QCOM to promote IS2000 and dis DS-WCDMA?
Sure they have IPR applicable to both camps, but QCOM are much closer to delivering IS2000 chips than they are to delivering DS chips.

Jacobs is claiming that QCOM could deliver WCDMA chips if it wasn't for the fluidity of DS-CDMA specifications .

IMO - this is a cop out. QCOM are unhappy with having to develop under a standard they don't have complete control over. QCOM have also realised that they are behind the competition with regard to producing a DS chipset. The reason is lack of software.
