Loki,
I see it. Thin margins. You have to sell more PCs to make the same bucks. It could also signal expenses for cranking up direct sales.

Dear Loki: Well, I imagin the onslaught of cheap PC's has really affected adversely the operating margins especially in the Personal PC area. Fortunately CPQ has a broad line of products and services outside of that area. I dont think that this past qtr is a good example to make any predictions for the future. Remember we had the effects of Y2K particularly in the Corporate area and additionally their was a shortage and resultant higher cost of processors and memory at the same time their was overall price pressure on the sales price of the system. Right now, I think its enough if they are maintaining market share etc. JDN
