OUCH!!! Wow, did they miss. The report looked positive for the future optic and semi biz, but man did they miss numbers. I initial feeling is VECO gets taken out and shot tomorrow. The fact that the DD biz is suffering is not too much of a surprise, although nobody likes to see a company miss numbers by 50%. I'll be watching this one unfold, it would be nice to pick up VECO under 50, although it might not get that bad. Whew! Tom

Mark, I just did some numbers, and anyone correct me if I am wrong. Braun states in the release that VECO will still do $300 mil in revenues for 2000. Last year VECO did $246.6 mil. But does that $300 mil figure include CVCI, which looks to be at a $100 mil annual run rate? If it does, then Braun is actually saying that VECO itself will have lower revenues in 2000 than 1999. But in the press release announcing the CVCI merger Braun states revenues in excess of $400 mil. I guess I'll have to listen to the CC for further clarification, but my guess is VECO will do $300 mil in 2000, a 20% increase over last year, and that figure does not include CVCI. Tom
