Drkoop.com To Explore 'Strategic Alternatives'
Expects To Lose up 80 to 82 Cents a Share in the First Quarter
Get Quote, Company Info: KOOP
Reuters

AUSTIN, Texas (April 25) - A struggling drkoop.com said on Tuesday it expected lose up 80 to 82 cents a share in the first quarter and had hired Bear, Stearns & Co. to explore ''strategic alternatives.''

The global healthcare network company said it was down to $24 million in cash, or enough to continue for about five months, but was pursuing new financing sources. Revenues for the quarter were expected to be $4.5 million to $4.7 million, which it said was ''below internal expectations.'' Official results for the quarter would be filed in the second week of May, the company said.

The company said it was taking steps to cut costs and boost advertising revenues. It also said it had restructured its content agreement with America Online Inc. to ''convert future cash payments into increased equity ownership.''

The restructuring would give AOL 10 percent of drkoop.com based on current shares outstanding, the company said.

Where would you rank your sites in the list of Junk?

They are minor league startups with no grand pretensions to greatness. Hopefully people enjoy reading them and learn something useful now and then. I write for them mostly for fun.
