*** OT OT *** "...Europeans (and Christianity) didn't arrive until the 1500's"

I was educated by Jesuits, and I have never heard of the Krishtan. The mainstream view is the one you cite - Xavier (and the Jesuits) brought Christianity to the Japanese in the mid-1500's.

[Before you take me to task about endorsing the 'party' line - the Jesuits were the first - and only - Christians to tell me that the Old Testament was NOT literal, and the New Testament was unreliable as a historical text....]

My first take was was that they must be akin to the lost tribes of Israel that pop up in Ethiopia every 10 years or so.

I did a preliminary research using a meta search engine and only came up with one link (from the Prescott Library - prescottlib.lib.az.us to the site you mention.

I still remain dubious about your claims regarding the Krishtans. They seem to have the same merit as those who claim the Jewish Holocaust :
a) never happened, or
b) the deaths could be attributed to disease, not ovens.

I will look into this further and PM you.
