Hi Pat,..Re:.updated comparison

Thanks for the CC Q&A on JDSU. I posted the updated chart on JDSU earlier, should have posted it here as well.

Re:.since some of these companies have large acquisitions giving them huge revenue increases would eps growth be a better gauge of strength than just comparing sales?

I thought about that for a long while but I agree with a financial analysts that used to post on the Dell thread called Chuzzlewit. He thinks all earnings can be easily manipulated and the Free Cash flow is the best measure. Unfortunately, I'm not good enough to do all that digging. <g>

Also agree with this poster on the JDSU thread.

If I get the chance I'll ask Chuzz the best way to show these comparisons.

Great day, <G big grins>

Pat - regarding your figures for revenue for GLW and JDSU:

Date Vendor Q Estimate Actual (% y/y) Revenues (% yr/yr)
Apr 24 GLW Q1 $0.51 $0.64 (+78% ) $1.35b (+ 36%)
Apr 25 JDSU Q3 $0.10 $0.11 (120%) $906.4m (+ 155%)

The $1.35 billion for GLW is the revenue for the most recent quarter. The last 4 Q's they had just under $5 billion in revenue and they are projecting over $6.5 billion for the next year.

The JDSU figure of $906.4 million is for the last three Q's. The comparable figure for last quarter for JDSU was $394.6 million (+155%).

As far as revenues are concerned GLW is three or more times the size of JDSU. GLW's telecommunications division alone (optical fiber and photonics) posted revenues of $893.4 million last quarter, up 50% and more than twice JDSU's total revenue. Obviously JDSU is still growing the fastest.
