Scumbria,

Let me ask it this way -- did you ever see Intel or Rambus, as the primary promoters of the RDRAM technology, put in such weasley "it may never work" words as AMD put in their press release? Ever? Did they ever say "this may not work"? Especially within 6 months of launching the product? They said there would be delays, but they never said that the technology might not even work.

And yet, AMD, supposedly very close to supporting DDR, feels compelled to include disclaimers left and right that there may be problems with the DDR technology! That it might not work! Basically, they've just admitted that Intel and Sony might be correct. As a marketeer who's put out and read many, many press releases, I've never seen one that hedged as much as the AMD one did. If I were you, I'd be very worried about the schedules for supporting DDR. This sounds to me very much like they're still running into serious problems that they don't know how to fix. I can't imagine another explanation that would compel the AMD marketing personnel to include such disclaimers.

Dave

Again,

"and/or that various DDR memory modules may not function correctly with AMD's chipsets. "

Man, that inspires confidence, doesn't it?

Dave

To SCUMBRIA

I can keep this up almost as long as you can.
RE <How many years has it taken to bring up DRDRAM functionality and usage to the very modest level it is at today?>

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO BRING DDRAM UP TO RDRAM's "modest"
performance levels?

Perhaps as long?
WHERE IS DDR?
