No less than Lucent recently bought a 30% interest in Terabeam. Terabeam is a private company, which was thought to be a leading IPO this year, prior to the Lucent purchase. Terabeam's technology in theory opens the band width bottleneck in major centers without tearing up the streets to lay cables. I looked into Terabeam briefly, and it looked interesting. The only way I can see to play it at this point is to buy Lucent. There are several threads on Terabeam and the company has a web sight. I don't know if or when they will go public.
