Interesting to get such different responses from intelligent posters. Confirms, as if I needed confirmation, my belief that writing covered calls is not a cure-all for money woes, especially if you're inexperienced. I read on coveredcall.com that the premiums have been so fat for a while that it's all the rage, and even grandmothers are doing it.

Interesting...I would admit that it certainly isn't as bearish as buying puts or writing naked calls or shorting the stock outright. But the only time I write covered calls is when I think that the stock price is going to fall (in the short term) on a stock that I want to hold for the long term.
