Bear markets, and even major corrections don't move down like bull markets climb up. They zig-zag up a bit and then down some more until it finally bottoms. With the FOMC raising interest rates again the middle of May. I would doubt we hit bottom before that. But that still leaves a lot of 2-three day reversals (up) to play, like with CMGI. The thing to remember is to bail at the toping, as it is better to get back in a few days late for the next bounce, than believe anyone can pick a bottom.

As for the old school NYSE large and mid cap stocks, yes, I expect them to be on the watch lists for a bit. They have been showing up a lot, and that is generally because money is still moving to more stable sectors and tickers, and particularly those that have predictable earnings or no earnings announcements in the near term.

It will be interesting to see what happens with CPQ today.
