Well, Joan, the following statement speaks for itself, and anyone who knows anything about immigration law or current events can cite counterexamples with no trouble at all. I yield to no one for pomposity, but this is one of the most asinine statements I have ever read by a Ph.D. ".. if Elian had been a Haitian, or a Liberian, or a Bolivian, or a Chechen, or a Lao, or just about any other nationality, these questions would never have come up in the first place."
