I've been following gaming stocks and I've seen some interesting comments regarding PSII. While it hasn't really begun marketing in the U.S. and while I'm sure first week sales will be high - it's runaway success is not a slam dunk. Since most of us aren't gamers, we tend to under estimate the quality of the games and over estimate the hardware. There are apparently some issues with PSII game quality. Here is an informal poll from pz.kryptech.com Round 2, Fight! Over 4000 College Students have been able to see the DC and PS2 side by side. Giving them the spotlight, we at PZ have been able to tally up the scores. What do these people think? Posted By: Mina on 04/20/00 As you have read on the Opening Page, we usually hold a DC Tech Demo for students interested in Computer Hardware and Digital Media every year. On request by some instructors, we hold live Demos of the Dreamcast talk about its future and how it uses computer technology to run games. This year its a bit different. We've included a PS2 along side with it. Not hyping 1 over the other, we were able to get positive feedback on what these 4000+ college students thought about both systems. We were to display 8 DC games and 5 PS2 Games. These games were: DC - Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur, Sega Rally 2, Hydro Thunder, Crazy Taxi, RE: Code Veronica, DOA 2 and NFL2k. PS2 - TTT, DOA2, RRV, Kessen and SF EX3. Both Systems were running on Screens of the same model trying NOT to promote one system over the other, which means PS2s Jaggies WERE probably noticeable to most peoples eyes. We were keeping it at a 1st Gen Game Basis. Here are the 10 Questions and results we have been able to get back, this is also an Overall tally (not just Male or Female votes): 01. What's the Best Looking Game on Display? - 34% Crazy Taxi (DC) - 33% Sonic Adventure (DC) - 12% DOA 2 (DC) - 10% RE: Code Veronica (DC) - 05% DOA 2 (PS2) - 02% Soul Calibur (DC) - 01% Sega Rally 2 (DC) - 01% Tekken Tag Tournament (PS2) - 01% SF EX3 (PS2) - 01% Ridge Racer 5 (PS2) 07. Comparing the DC and PS2 to older Consoles (such as PSX or N64 or PC), can you tell the difference in Image Quality? - 90% Yes - 10% No 07b. This Fall will mark the beginning of PS2s life here in the U.S. and it's only real competition will be the Dreamcast until 2001. In your humble opinion, which system will come out on top and why?
