In fact, I remember Brinker saying on his program that if you were invested 50% in the S&P 500 and 50% in short-term treasuries during the last 15(?) years, you could get 84% of the stock-market gains at 50% of the risk. I don't know if that implied periodic rebalancing back to 50-50, like once every year... maybe not. I'm not sure.
