I figure I margined enough to have made some good investments, but not enough to really be a danger. The only
thing I don't like about my current position is that I have no cash. I have $3 in my wallet and $12 in my savings account, and an empty checking account. I get paid Friday, and if I absolutely have to buy something before then there is plastic, but I don't like having no cash reserve.
On the positive side I've gone from having about $3k cash and no stock (not counting my 401K) and the begining of the year, to about $17k stock and -$4k cash (total of all debts including margin). I know its not as big of return as some people here have had, but increasing my net worth $10k in under 5 months is not bad for someone with an income of under $50k/year.
If when I first started to invest I had dumped in all in AMD, used margin and bought calls I would have had made a lot more but I also would have taken on much more risk then I care to. Still would have been nice to buy a house with my profits rather then just planning to meet the downpayment with them. :)
