I don't go for federal programs on my farm.
I take all the subsidies that I qualify for on my farm. I think the way farm subsidies work is the correct way for all tax deductions. That is to say, I don't get a deduction, I pay my taxes and if the govt. thinks that I'm doing something beneficial to the country they give me a cash payment. The rest of the taxes should be the same way so that each program is justified in itself and not hidden as something that wasn't payed.

Ish, I'm surprised you haven't felt the pressure from the Ag dept. yet. After all, they have graduates from Stanford and Harvard who can tell you how to run your farm better than your ancestors did. Gee, you're not with the program.
