It's the same Level II montage, but with functionality that permits the trader (market maker) to actually enter, raise and lower bid and offer quotes and sizes (Increment, decrement, etc). Incoming orders (SelectNet, SOES etc.) pop up in windows, it has an interface to ACT for reporting to the Consolidated Quotation Service, a window for NASDAQ event news (halts, openings, etc), etc.

Level III, is order entry and ..quote capable( meaninmg you have the ability to move the respective market makers quotes around .

Huge difference,one lets you watch..the other lets you trade and change the market
