i see you're getting it...actually instead of making us breathlessly await the numbers every month, BLS should probably just use a spokesman (ole lines Kudlow springs to mind) with a winning personality who publicly proclaims on CPI day with great conviction in his voice that there IS no inflation...

While the ECI may carry a strong headline number, the economy's strong productivity should offset any growing inflation concerns, said Bruce Steinberg, chief economist at Merrill Lynch.

``It is very important to understand that other measures of labour costs such as compensation per hour -- which is a broader measure than ECI -- while they are rising, they are not accelerating,'' he said.

``It is also critical to understand that productivity growth in the U.S. economy is unbelievable. Despite labour cost worries, productivity growth has more than outpaced wage increases so there is still no underlying inflation,'' said Steinberg, whose prediction is in line with the 0.9 percent consensus.

MYTH,MYTH,MYTH...productivity is another statistical trick, based entirely on the chained dollar bag of lies applied to PC manufacturing.

and that's their CHIEF economist???

hypster-in-chief more likely...
