Mo, I do not see you will see a real bad bear market, or a depression as some people are talking about, but a very broad trading range (factor of two between top to bottom on DOW and possibly a factor of three in the NAZ), and that period might be quite protracted (some 5 to 7 years or so), and all it will take to end it will be for earnings to continue to climb until valuations will become once more rational (earnings go up, prices do not, valuation measures decrease and every one is happy ever after).
