Allan, i have posted here quite often about the China situation. the most important point imo is that China is mired in a deflationary depression that has now lasted well over two years. at the same time the country is a lot less stable and cohesive internally than is generally assumed in the West. add to that an autocratic communist regime, whose main aim in life is to cling to power, and you have the ingredients for a very explosive situation. imo, rather than risk social unrest at home, the Chinese government would rather attack Taiwan to divert people from the troubles on the mainland.
