Well, maybe you're right, and the whole fabric of our culture will unravel if we let gay people get married. Personally, I think that argument's been thrown at every cultural change that ever happened, and I think the worst effect we'd see is that some inoffensive couples would live together with a little more happiness and security than they might otherwise have. But then I prefer to live and let live and to mind my own business, and I prefer to extend tolerance as far as possible, as long as no direct infringement on anyone else's rights is involved. I am well aware that these preferences are far from universal.
