BLS won't start incorporating stock options in ECI till July or October report. There was a lot of insider selling in December and January so ECI is still understating costs.

I strongly disagree. The ECI had the largest q/q increase
since September 1989 and the strongest y-o-y change in
eight years.

The highest guess in the consensus was 1.2%e < 1.4%actual.

Health care costs are very trendy. Wage increases will not
fall off a cliff either.

If costs stay at this rate then 4% inflation will
be the de facto floor for '00. Not acceptable for the
"New Economy" or the Fed or the currency markets IMHO.
