They just keep doing what is in their own self interest, not for the benefit of the gold industry. The project costs go down, the cash flow goes up, and an extra 500,000 will get on the market in 2000. Business as usual, IMHO.

Yanacocha, which has an amazing amount of gold AND silver reserves, will probably be enough to take Newmont over 5 million ounces in 2001. Barrick is also shooting for 5 million ounces, so it is starting to looks like a contest to claim "we're number #1"
