Novell: The Hallowing Out Continues......

>>I'm sorry you fell for the Fred Smart baloney
Fred has never done anything for the shareholders. He has done plenty for himself, and only himself.>>

Paul & Waldy:

Two opposing views.

Each right in their own mind.

The truth is somewhere - not in between - but "out there."

Waldy, I'd get out of Novell while you can.

There's not enough energy, vision or excitement. They may have defined ONE mantra, ONE reason, ONE purpose, but for some reason people inside - employees - and outside - Wall Street - don't believe or understand it. Worse, they have failed to "captivate, empower and excite" the world.

Paul, you have every right to draw the sword and stab the Mr. Manic side of yours truly in the back, head or right through the neck - as you wish. I appreciate your efforts and the continued diligence you've applied to this cause. But I will draw the line when it comes to something you fail to appreciate: the power and energy it takes to trust, empower, excite individuals, teams, communities to a cause. "Gibberish", "manic", "out there", "garbage" you say. And perhaps that's what this has all boiled down to -inside and outside Novell - for too many people, including myselft. For I fail to "see", "get" the who/what/when/where/how and why of what Novell is anymore. For there's this ethical, moral core of energy which has been hallowed out over the past year.

But at some point, enough is enough - both for me, Waldy, you and everyone in this community.

And this is why some of the best and brightest minds, engineers and talent continues to leave Novell in droves. Check with your own sources. The brain/talent drain continues unabated.

Talented developers and engineers are extremely hard to find these days. And despite the tech down turn, there are new companies expanding everyday which these INDIVIDUALS are going to - away from Novell, period.

Novell is being hallowed out to the very core where the only value and real energy resides: Drew Major's group.

Novell's biggest problem is this DISTRUSTING inverted energy-taking internal political legacy which has been able to grow in the past by controlling talented engineers.

Happy Valley is just getting a lot happier as it's opened over the past 2+ years. Novell is fast losing it's traditional patriarchal power and control. Perhaps this is a necessary part of the takeover.

>>When Fred actually does something REAL, such as mount the big Novell takeover campaign with his "associates", please let me know.

Mr. Trust is a bust.>>

You still don't "get it" Paul. The REAL revolutions/takeovers begin and end at the grassroot level. Forget about "me" and "my" associates. INDIVIDUALS are leading this takeover by voting with their feet. For this New Energy to finally assume leadership, the company is going to be either split up or bought out.

Just sit back and watch it unfold for there is nothing you can do to stop it from unravelling.

The only force that can stop this is TRUST - a "letting go" which naturally embraces more energy. And, as we've seen with Novell in ways you now attribute to me, "TRUST is a bust." I've extended more trust to this community anyone knows what to do with - all the way to a naturally manic conclusion.

But Novell continues to eat it's own right now. There's internal political warfare. Those that are or could be called on the carpet for the negative energy crap pulled over the last year are jumping ship BEFORE they can be called to account.

The MINDSET has to change to a more positive, caring, open, threaded, empowered, exciting, risk and action oriented culture.

Another individual on this thread which I spoke with yesterday recommended that Novell change it's world headquarters to San Jose. Now, that's a pretty good idea.

Something needs to be done and fast for "TRUST is a bust" inside Novell right now.

And Paul, you can bash me all you want. I will be less manic and try to be more "black and white" as I come down to earth, having fallen off my chair while on Mt. Everest. And, even as you may want to forever extinguish the thought that I ever existed, I forgive myself and you for pointing this out.

Perhaps the logical sacrifice is to throw some caricature of trust - ie. me - out first, BEFORE you throw the baby - REAL trust - out with the bathwater -Novell.

Whatever the case may be, I accept.

Peace.

GO!!
