Hello Anthony, I have been following the discussion for quite a while and just wanted to throw another opinion in the ring. I can completely understand the suspicion that you have of this situation, but I have to say that you need to enter into the circle of high-tech researchers. I first saw George present at a Novell conference years ago ... I was stunned! He was talking about the semiconductor revolution, and could see the coming fiber revolution. He researches and meets with the leading technologists of our day ... and if you have the time, I would suggest the you do also! I have been to the last two Telecosm conferences that Forbes/Gilder hold each year. I would suggest that you come and join us, and I think that you might get a better idea of where all of this analysis comes from. I have to admit that the first year I was truly blown away by the level of people attending this conference. It is like no other conference I have attended, except maybe some of the Seybold conferences. > I am intrigued by the relationship with GILG and Gilder > Gilder, gagnon & Howe.....and co LLC.. at one point > cliamed a relationship with mr Gilder , but now they deny > it..yet a review of their holdings and we see that they > hold GILDERS picks.. I guess that this really gets interesting when a large number of his readers *also* hold his picks! ;-) I will admit that I am a researcher and technologist, and that I spend all my time, not analyzing the financials of companies, but instead tracking the people involved, the scientists who work there, and the vision that is guiding them. I also read daily about technological breakthroughs, and new research papers written in higher education institutions. I am constantly "people networking" in some of the same places that George is ... ... and I will say now that I only do a *fraction* of the research that George does! He is *very* good at maintaining a huge number of technological relationships in his head. He is an amazing thinker. I would almost argue that George has developed a fantastic methodology to his analysis, and is able to offer a "glimpse" of *one* possible future. If you would read the writings of Ray Kurzweil, then I will predict that it might get more difficult to time these "predictions" due to the accelerating rate of salient events. I also will say that I fully understand that the "Gilder-effect" *does* exist ... there are countless "blind" purchases of stocks, just because George mentioned that a particular company is providing some new and amazing technology that is contributing to the "revolution" in technology. And then, after the stock has soared, it often comes back to earth and then eventually gets stable and continues it's normal pace. Very similar to the IPO-effect ... ;-) If you understand the "revolutions" that have been created by the Industrial Age, and now the Information Age, George is very good at running around and talking to the people who are working on the next generation of inventions. It's a very interesting circle of people. I have read your posts where you state that you are "curious", and yet you seem to post your questions in a way that they convey "guilt" of George for something ... I know that you might not believe this, but I think that you might be very interested in seeing exactly what this is all about. Please, make sure to go to Telecosm ... it is worth the time and money. You might just realize that you'll listen to, and be sitting with, some of the most brilliant technological minds of our century. Scott C. Lemon
