>>Leaving aside abortion, what specific civil rights do you fear the right is trying to steal?<<

I can't pass this one up, so I'll start the list.

Freedom of religion. Freedom of association. Freedom from government intrusion into life/death/health decisions. Freedom of speech. Just to name a few that come quickly to mind.

DMA, the erosion of civil rights is a direct result of the war on drugs which is largely a right-wing endeavor (at least to the extent to which it is carried today). But the right wing thought it wise to expand police powers outside of drug enforcement as well. In fact, the reason that Justice could engage in the type of act that was carried out against the relatives is because of right wing policies. Lott and the rest of his cronies just can't fathom that a Democrat is using the powers intended for a Republican president! The nerve Clinton has!

The real fear that Americans should have is that right wing zealots keep eroding our rights. On a positive note, the far right needs some macro reason to justify taking away more rights and I just don't see any on the horizon. Not to mention the fact that they are rapidly losing all credibility domestically and internationally. face it, they are hypocrites and the more visible they are the more that this characteristic is clear to everyone.
