Chasing? Au contraire! Didn't get filled on my limit order on KEG. I stated why I went to cash. They were good reasons TO and FOR me, and that is enough. I stated clearly that I was eager to return to the patch when my technicals turned. They turned. I also said I didn't care too much about get exact bottoms. Call it what you like, I slept easy. Sometimes that is important in periods of overall market risk. Now, if we were both perfect traders we wouldn't be having this conversation would we? BTW doesn't your trading style sometimes dictate turning on a dime? Whew, I just couldn't keep up with all those MEXP moves you made last winter. :0}

You are right, this is not a "normal" build season. Gas and Distillates are at exceedingly low levels. Refiners will have to start working overtime soon or gasoline stocks will reach critical levels. Distillates too. The article I posted earlier estimated that refineries will have to refine at least 1 mbpd of crude to meet gasoline demand alone. Apparently farmers are getting an early start on planting season so diesel demand should pick up further reducing distillates. What about Jet fuel? What is not normal about this build season is that refiners are not stepping up manufacturing. Sure gasoline demand COULD be met with imports but that would just reduce further already depleted world wide stocks. MITI just said gasoline stocks in Japan where the lowest since '73.
