Plaz,

Speaking as someone who knows a lot about graphics, and a moderate amount about SDRAM, I would say that Carl's technical information about SDRAM tends to very accurate. I can not speak for his knowledge of DRDRAM because I have never worked directly with it. (I have worked on designs that used DRDRAM, but I was not directly involved with the memory subsystem.)

Hi Plaz; I never ever said that memory bandwidth wasn't a problem for graphics. Never, ever, ever, did I say such a thing. You keep putting these words in my mouth, but I never ever, ever said such a thing.

In fact, the opposite is true, and that is why it is very, very significant that Rambus was pushed out of the graphics market.

If the display market had been one where bandwidth didn't matter, then it would be understandable that the high cost of Rambus eliminated them. Instead, the graphics market is Rambus' natural back yard, and the neighbors have taken it over. This is what is in the process of happening to the PC market as well.
