From AWE prospectus:
"There is no guarantee that TDMA will provide the advantages the AT&T Wireless Group expects. In addition, the AT&T Wireless Group cannot guarantee that the next generation technology will be compatible with TDMA. The ATT&T Wireless Group has chosen Enhanced Data Rate from GSM Evolution, or EDGE, also known as GSM++, as its next or third generation wireless technology. ... If the third generation technology that gains widespread acceptance is not compatible with TDMA, it will materially adversely affect the business, financial condition and prospects of the AT&T Wireless Group."

Guess investors can't say they weren't warned. Anyone know how far behind HDR is EDGE. Has MOT even demonstrated EDGE? Is EDGE a bypass of W-CDMA.

If EDGE is a year behind HDR, then AWE will lose customers to the HDR providers big time.

When Armstrong (on CNBC) made a point of AWE 40% growth rate, it seems as if he was implying that going forward. (Rev growth 12 % 98 vs 97 and 43% 99 vs 98 is what the numbers in the prospectus reveals.)Since CDMA is growing faster than TDMA and with the advent of Verizon and strong competion on the GSM side from VSTR and in the corporate arena from NXTL, I say AWE will be lucky to grow 25% next year and 15% the year after.

Am I all wet?
