Hi TTOSBT,..Re:.More correctly your a computer manuf. who MSFT offers a discount if you bundle ONLY IE with MSFT's OS.

Great Post TTOSBT! <g> Would you guess that a lot of the people complaining about harm and injustice have NEVER had to make a business decision that grows the bottom line?<gg>

Re:.IT'S THE WAY AMERICA WORKS!!!

Funny this fundamental just escapes the "conspiracy group"! LOL!

Re:.If you the consumer feel you were harmed by the way MSFT does business you may want to check and see the way other business make money off the consumer before you issue your complaint.

Truer words... <g>

Re:.MSFT out-marketed it's competitors time and time again. In the beginning we the consumer had the opportunity to purchase any of MSFT's competitors products but chose Windows

Choice was always there! MSFT not only out-marketed, looks like they out-smarted them too! <g>

Really liked your upbeat remarks especially after plodding through all the gazillion reasons softy is the demon of the free world. <g>

Cheers,

Lee

"MSFT out-marketed it's competitors time and time again." Ya, maybe so, but often with innovations it "grabbed" from other sources, and using its monopoly position to unfair advantage.
It's not american to abuse a monopoly position is it. Maybe it is. I don't get it. MSFT is a monopoly player and it abused that position. How can that not be clear to you.

"More correctly you're a computer manuf. who MSFT offers a discount if you bundle ONLY IE with MSFT's OS. You have the decision to bundle NSCP browser with any other OS you sell." A company holding a monopoly position is abusing their power when they do that. Even in America, and the courts agree with me.

Please help me understand ...

1 The price charged manufacturers is set?

2 This set price can be discounted?

3 The 'discount' is conditional on IE being exclusive?

4 Most manufacturers accept the conditions and get the discount?

5 This is against the law?

6 What law?

I can't see much difference between this case and using discount coupons when picking up a few groceries. Perhaps, if I forgot my coupon envelope, I could demand the same discount anyway, because the supermarket chain has a monopoly in my area.

Off topic bit ... I bought a car. Before delivery, I was required to sign a contract that I would not export this car. The car company is the only one selling this type of car (Perhaps a monopoly) and I'm only one individual. Did this company violate any laws by presenting me with this contract? I was free to decline the deal offered, just as those who wish to include Microsoft's OS with their systems.

Sorry about the rant -- I get cranky on Friday afternoons.

Cheers, PW.

P.S. Speaking about being cranky and ranting, the people on the Cisco thread have brought pitching abuse at one another to a new level. I guess they aren't as 'nice' as we are.

"THE WAY AMERICA WORKS!!!" includes obeying the antitrust laws or suffering the consequences, IMHO.
