The U.S. embargo is a myth, there is world wide free trade with every other nation on earth.

So, why doesn't the U.S. lift it then?

I don't dispute any of your points here, though i would restate the last to say that 'the US embargo is becoming steadily more myth-like', since US citizens can and increasingly do visit Cuba, they just have to go from Canada or M‚xico or other neutral ground, then they need to be careful of US authorities finding out.

But i do think there is huge symbolic value in the formal dropping of its restrictions ... cut Castro off at the knees, don't leave him any excuses ... don't threaten by government edict his cubanidad ... let your teenagers do that -g-
