Well, it is hardly a surprise that M2 was faster than DLT1, the 7000, or the 8000. It is a surprise to me, though, that they were able to do that using a Pentium. To repeat my previous comment: we will have to wait for a few more weeks. Hopefully for DSS stockholders, that is all we will have to wait for.

Brown mentioned again in the CC that CPQ had already made an exclusive commitment to SDLT. CPQ--through DEC--probably knows the DLT system better than anyone else outside of DSS itself. I find it hard to believe that they would make this kind of commitment if they weren't pretty sure that it would fly. Of course, stranger things have been known to happen. But until any concrete commitments from DSS, we are left to mere speculative (and probably silly) musings.
