Hi Alex,

I nibbled on ATVI today for a short term play because it looks like a small rally is in order. Not a large position because I don't know what is in store for next week. Markets have been generally strong. Looking at many of the charts, especially for tech,I forsee one of two things happening in the next session or two.

Most stocks I have taken a look at are at a critical juncture right now whose trend will be decided in the next day or two. If stocks continue to advance, the downtrend that has been going on for the last month will end here and it will be time to buy in for the long term. However, my feeling is that stocks, despite this current bullish mood, will not be able to hang on to these gains, and will drop precipitously next week. If that happens, then ATVI will drop also, so be careful!

Take care and good luck!

Tom

Alex and Tom

I'm still "afloat" thanks to AMD and some other equities in my portfolio. I'm beyond trying to make sense of ATVI, the Pr's are awful and the guidance is confusing. I guess we have earnings soon, although I can't figure out what they "should" be in light of the recent charges/FUD.

I did see this article re: ATVI's DC strategy and PS2. It is several pages long, so I won't post it...but it's worth a read.

mcvnow.com

The seemingly on-again-off-again strategy Activision has exhibited toward Dreamcast can be boiled down to risk management. One element that has contributed to Activision's wariness in full-on support for DC is the promise of PlayStation 2 ? the expected success of which is described by Mitch Lasky, Activision's executive VP of studios, as a "slam dunk."

Another article on growth.

Enjoy the weekend.
