Maria Bartiromo reported at least three times this morning about DLJ's Galvin calling for movement into tech stocks from the so-called old economy stocks, some pretty positive news despite the futures being locked limit down. That was a gutsy call, and I'm glad CNBC reported it.

Do you really want us to believe that the crush of bodies on the S&P futures floor all got together for coffee at 8:29 am and agreed to sell the futures on such an important piece of economic data? If the CNBC sources wanted to job the market, then why didn't they tell everyone to dump technology so that the institutions could accumulate shares for the subsequent rally?

I'd be interested to hear more about the manipulation theory.
