I've lived in the South all my life, and I've never had poke salad, either. It's made from poke weed. Where I'm from, people eat crawfish etoufee and shrimp poorboys, and for greens we like collards and mustard greens. Where I live now (D.C. metro area) is not above the Grit Line, I can have grits for breakfast at the courthouse cafeteria, every day, and biscuits made from scratch, too. If you tell me you don't like grits and biscuits, then by God, you are a Yankee. (And my high school flew the Rebel flag until after I graduated!)
