Michael, I've been insisting for the last several years that there are coordinated "rigs" in the S&P futures and some individual stocks. It's hard to know if a rally is legit or a "rig" when it's in progress so I have been unable to take advantage of my view. I just observe. IMO, the "rigs" almost always occur at the height of a decline, are sudden and extreme, and can often coincide with the expiration of futures and options. In other words, if someone big stands to lose a lot at the current price, it is rigged up just prior to the expiration. On an individual stock basis, if a stock is universally hated by short sellers and written up in various newsletters and articles as a potential short, it is much more likely to be rigged up and receive favorable spin at certain key times. I've seen it repeatedly. And not just in high tech. I've seen it in companies like Sears and others (old era). The sheer number of times it happens and my constantly improving ability to sniff out the rigs from the legit rallies at an early stage has increased my confidence that I am right. I would classify the Nasdaq turnaround earlier this week in the last few minutes as a rig job, but I'm not sure who benefited. 5 minutes into it though I knew what was up. To me, the game seems almost totally rigged on a short term basis! No one is complaining though because it's "shorts" that are generally getting raped and pillaged. Wayne
