Steve, <Since iNteL can't get it's act together, what signs do you see that makes you think they will have their act together in a couple of quarters?>

How do you think this question was answered back when AMD was having constant execution problems? What signs do you see that makes you think AMD is immune to execution problems in the future?

The best sign is their confidence that Williamette will be shipping this year. No such Confidence about Thunderbird from AMD's latest comments.

I do have doubts about Thunderbird.

Perhaps they both ship. Let's assume at the same time.
Who will win a price war?

Of course if AMD ships first, Intel and Rambus may suffer - short term. BUT if Intel ships first, AMD as a monkey or chimp (since their processors are not identical I believe the latter), AMD will suffer far more than would Intel. DELL is fully behind Intel (notice correct spelling - can we stop the inflamatory spellings please).
I believe Michael Dell knows what he is doing.

Only thing holding back Williamette IMHO is supply of RDRAM.
RDRAM is ramping up and DDR is still sampling. This is a fact.
We can debate what problems DDR may or may not have ad nausium. Let's play it safe and say we just do not know.
We do know that RDRAM is shipping in ever increasing REAL VOLUME.

I like the above signs. If I was in AMD I would not like them. As a Gorilla Intel will recover much quicker than AMD.

I also like the fact that AMD is seeking to hire RDRAM experts. I believe they may be gearing up (6-12 months out) for Rambus. I would love to see an AMD 200mz front end bus running RDRAM. We would both be happy!
