Tenchusatsu...<Intel says that RDRAM is necessary to boost the performance of Willamette. Do you think AMD's T-Bird and Mustang-based platforms with DDR will be able to compete performance-wise? Sanders thinks so, but what if Sanders is dead wrong?>

Tenchusatsu

Well considering Intel hasn't done much right in the last six months (except securities trading), what if Willamette can't compete? Stay tuned. I guess that is why we all follow the thread pretty closely. We'll know the answer soon enough.

Tenchusatsu, Intel says lots of things, just like Elmer and Paul used to around here. Since even dual channel Rambus doesn't particularly beat PC133 in the tweaked BX, what is Willy supposed to have? Quad channel Rambus?

We'll see, I note in passing though that 128m RIMMs have come down $1 to $559 on pricewatch since Kingston's "68% price cut" announcement. What a deal.

Cheers, Dan.

AMD is still only about 1/40th the market cap, I don't think being the performance leader is priced into the stock. They just need to keep growing revenue and profits. With flash going the way it is, and Intel having a shortage (willamete will only hurt that and not help even if it destroys mustang) I feel quite comfortable with AMD for awhile even if it's not the performance leader.

Now you tell me, what if he's right?

Ten,

Intel says that RDRAM is necessary to boost the performance of Willamette

Intel thought that Timna needed DRDRAM.
Intel thought that world needed Merced.
Intel thought that AMD was incompetent.
