yup..Patience is our friend :>) I'm not trading anywhere near as much either, and I won't sell for a loss on a position I've held for a long time just to chase the 'next thing'.

I hate learning how to be patient :>)

<<<<<<<My patience is really being tested these days and generally I am
not a patient person.>>>>>>>>>

Please, do not, do not do anything foolish. I sympathize with you. If you need someone to talk to PM me and we can talk.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all these days. Stand firm, walk away from the computer. Go play with your children, but don't do anything foolish.

Cheers

RG

Lakers: your comment about selling at a loss to chase new stocks reminds me of that old joke: "How do you make a small fortune in the stock market? Start with a big fortune." Some of my friends flip in and out of stocks too much and have too many stocks to keep track of. You're right, you'll just erode your principal. I think some of this may be due to the excitement of gambling. The daytraders interviewed on CNBC tonight talked about the excitement they experience when trading. On the other hand, I've learned that I have to cut my losses a lot sooner when my stocks are going down and go to cash so I can buy on the dip or buy back in lower. I am looking at an index card showing my entry price & number of shares for each of my stocks. In every case these stocks went much lower & I held. I don't think JB would have done that, do you? If I'd sold sooner, I would have been in a position to take advantage of recent dips on Golden List stocks. It's the bottom line that counts. In the future I will be a lot quicker to sell, and a lot slower to buy. You see how these crazy stocks fall back even after good news. Look at ARYN today. I was tempted to jump in (I've made money on that one before), but I bet it would fall back again, and it did. If you miss one, well, there's always another stock! Enjoyed your post. Take care. I like the fellowship on this thread. Very different from the sniping & carnival atmosphere elsewhere.

Good post Lakers,

And I agree with all you said. This is a time to call the companies and decide what your strongest positions are. I'm taking profits much quicker on exisiting stocks and trying to identify those I want to average down on or just get more into cash. I have too many positions as well and the junk you could so easily make money on has really been hammered. Time to be more selective and buy companies such as GNNU and TEKC, quality. The past few months have been unbelievable and fortunately my year is already made no matter what the market continues to do. It is getting boring, however, but my fitness level is going up as I make more and earlier trips to the gym. :-) Jeff has a good post on House of Coin re: being versatle # 13464. As you know my original plans were to trade stock index futures full time. If this continues that is likely what I will be doing.
