Hi Harry.

I wonder if the problem with the Semis ~10 days ago could have been options-related or perhaps some people knowing about MSFT's earnings ahead of the announcement and dumping these stocks the week before.

>>>Are you able to trade this market given your more restricted access?

I have been able to trade the market, only when I can monitor it a few times a day. I was away for ~3 days last Monday thru Wed. and none of my limit buys were triggered during last Monday's drop. However, Thurs and Friday were sweet.

Just picking a price point and putting limit orders don't seem to work. Also, more than anytime in the past, majority of stocks in the same group move in tandem with the market. Therefore, I hope that in a few years you can place limit orders based on multiple conditions. So, you can select your own entry & exit criteria. Something like:

if (price == outside_day & vol == above_avg & market == good)

limit_buy = full_amt;

else
......
......

Obviously, you need to define all your variables (outside_day, above_avg, good, full_amt) separately.

The commission could be higher since it requires more processing power but it could happen one day. Experts will sell you their propriety trading algorithms and daily price points for each stock, instead of discussing charts or fundamentals.

Take care;

Clint
