Susan, I agree. There is no place in this market climate for stubbornly sticking with favorites through thick and thin. The good part is that on any rally, I zoom to my favorites and they are usually good for quite a nice pop. If I hold through a day or two I usually get stopped out on a trailing stop and probably would have been better off just selling the first day and at most the gap up of the second. My intentions are to hold and enjoy our '2 and 3 baggers' like in the past but at this point they do sell off and I have less than a handful actually pretty stable so far but probably not for long. I just won't hold a stock that has given me a gain like ERICY for more than a 3-5 day swing trade and perhaps sell and rebuy a bit later on.

"Holding your Winners' is also nice in theory but they don't stay winners long and they are not that amenable to 'go down' just when you are ready. There were very few if any 'two-three week winners' that were posted timely and tracked as holds. More were like "wow is that still up..? and most were unexpected and not held because most most did not believe the 'so-called' rally would last and with these price fluctations are not what a blind 'buy and hold strategy' is all about. Its a limited buy and hold... set with stop losses, trailing stops etc.

Stocks do not have flight schedules that are predictable in advance like airlines with usually only minor delays. They are 'crashing' like the G-D forbid air disasters they sometimes turn out to be. Setting aside a small amount to 'hold' is logical but its wise to look at other sources of income besides equities, if you are a 'long term investor'..

Susan G, I was going to post this article and make the same comments about a possible biotech rebound today, and you are already on it. Good work.
