even if Microsoft can withstand the litigation from the private plaintiffs ... its stock may reflect a different valuation.

I think all of your points, not just the above one, have merit. I'm not pretending that Microsoft could go unscathed. I do, however, believe that the typical reaction of the stock market is to vastly over react to similarly catastrophic situations. Considering the products Microsoft sells, the strength of its many value chains, the number of product categories in which it might be a gorilla, king or chimp that dominates a niche (I haven't tried to count them.), I believe the worst case scenario is that Microsoft will weather this situation and that a lot of the potential damage is already built into the currently depressed price of the stock.

I could be wrong, but that's my impression.
