The more MSFT & SEBL squeal about ORCL just convinces me all the more that Ellison is accomplishing his goals and see's this companies future solidly planted within reach. He may not be liked, but he is brilliant. Never under estimate a determined genius. Here is proof.

Oracle(R) Database Outpaces IBM in Large Market, Beats Microsoft
in Mid-Market

According to Latest Techtel Research

Demand for Oracle's Database Up in all Categories; Purchase Consideration

For Oracle Exceeds IBM DB2 by a Factor Greater Than Two

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., May 3 /PRNewswire/ --
(http://www.oracle.com/tellmemore/?198737) Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL), the
largest provider of software for e-business, today announced that demand for
Oracle's database is outpacing demand for IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server
according to recent findings from Techtel Corporation. In fact, the current
purchase consideration for Oracle(R) exceeds that for IBM DB2 by a factor more
than 2-to-1 for large companies. In the mid-market, Microsoft's traditional
stronghold, purchase consideration for Oracle also exceeds that for Microsoft
SQL Server. In its research, Techtel considers large companies to have
5,000 or more employees, whereas companies classified in the mid-market have
1,000 - 4,999 employees.

Techtel's most recent research findings are based on 206 surveys of
companies exceeding 5,000 employees and 166 surveys of companies with
1,000 - 4,999 employees; all surveys were conducted during the first quarter
of 2000. Techtel is a demand measurement firm, and its research methodology
has recently been cited by a leading brand management expert for their
accuracy.
"Oracle continued to do extremely well in our findings for this quarter,"
said Michael Kelly, CEO of Techtel Corporation. "Oracle's database was up in
all categories in surveys of both the large and mid-sized business, including
the key categories of positive opinion and brand awareness. According to our
research we should expect to see database demand continue to increase overall
post Y2K."
"These findings show that Oracle8i(TM) is now the database with the
highest ratio of awareness and positive opinion," said Jeremy Burton, Oracle
vice president, Internet Platform Marketing. "They go to show what results

from a constant dedication to provide the most innovative and useful database
in the world."
