Rob, Well, RAID systems are fine enough, but in the installations that I have heard about at least, even when there are redundant disks, there is also a tape backup. At the very least, it keeps a permanent archival record, which is important for many companies and organizations. So I don't think that tape is going to floppied real soon. But I haven't been close to a real live tech world situation since the early 90s, about the time Mosaic became popular. Things have changed enormously since then, as we all know.
