Jim, take a look at Robert Gordon's study, which is debunking the productivity myth a bit:

note that he's not the only researcher that has noted that the government's 'chained dollars' methodology to account for everything related to PC's is wildly distorting everything from GDP to CPI to productivity data.

imo, this is a bit of statistical trickery to pull the wool over everyone's eyes. if productivity were indeed increasing measurably due to higher computing speeds, this should show up in REAL dollars. why use an artificial construct like hedonic pricing?
