Please tell me you have read this article about Elian's family and the events leading up to the necessity of rescuing him from the Relatives in Miami.

After you have read this, then I can begin to use uncomplimentary epithets relating to your ability to understand, to reason and to have compassion for those less fortunate than you.

I suppose you know the answer why it took the Dad 5 months to reunite with his son, Elian. If not, I urge you to read the N.Y. Times article. If he had left earlier, I suppose you would have called him abandoning his present family, or worse, a Cuban trader.

Perhaps you call him dead-beat because you are unfamiliar how adversities in life prevent living it in a perfect way.

That's a low IQ response to a complex problem with international implications.
