Carolyn, I also own both Qcom and IDCC, tho far more of the latter than the former.

My sense is that QCOM's strategy is to get at least minor penetration in as many markets as possible. If they have a presence with CDMA2000, then the cell phones in that market will have to have an interface with CDMA2000. That means royalties on that interface with Qcom's technology, eben if there is no Qcom IPR in the rest of the phone's tech.

QCOM doesn't have to have much of a presence in these markets to make money as long as they have a "dog in the race" that everyone has to relate to.

Does that make sense to you?

Actually Carolyn that is a report by Alex Cienna who most everybody I know thinks is the best Telecom analyst on the street. Who should you believe? Him or Bill bangladesh? Use your head.
