OX,

These types of reading can be seen sometimes around options expirey. I would suspect the large traders are positioning for next week?

It was an odd day to be sure... pit guys must have been out for early beers.

Some stuff got run up at the end but must have been on low volume. Futures moved up quickly on low volume. Sure felt like someone goosed the NDX futures near 3:50; the latter part of the day had just over half the normal volume for the late afternoon.

Chalk it up to month end; lower liquidity; apathy?

A number of futures firms have recently raised margin requirements on the NDX futures citing 'volatility'. Lower volume is good for no one...

Dunno, I had a nice run up and a nice run down today, and have an open mind for Monday.

EDIT: Here's SPX with MDA Posting Volume / VIX
