I do not doubt your experience was a miracle. Anyone, IMO, who accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior has overcome overwhelming odds to believe what, unless one has actually "been there", makes no sense whatsoever using all of one's faculities of reasoning and is therefore a miracle. To persist in the endevor is even more miraculous, IMO, given the unbelievable hurdles to overcome.

I was hoping I would be reading a story something along the lines of an NDE.

As far as your story sparking discussion, such a discussion has taken place enumerable times and would therefore be of little use, IMO, by those who doubt or question the validity of your experience. I, personally, do not feel the need to answer critics of my beliefs any longer. Let them think what they wish since they will probably do so anyway.

In '94, I would still swear to this day, I saw a demon come from the foot of my bed and get right up in my face, while I lay frozen with fear. It happened as I was trying to go to sleep for the evening, but opened my eyes to hear Letterman's top ten which my wife was watching at the time.

I remember the experience vividly. Regardless of the doubters, IT HAPPENED! So let them think what they will.
