having lived in europe for 10 years i do understand some of the companies fairly well...

siemens is now a conglomerate...when i lived in berlin they seemed to be mostly an electrical company....osram a sub is probably the largest light bulb mfr in europe. they have other products as well...you can buy an osram light bulb anywhere in europe. i never saw a ge bulb over there.

i believe osram is making the leds from cree and/or siemens SiC. or they are getting the led chips from siemens...i'll try to get a better handle on that for you.

at any rate, i believe siemens has some small SiC production and buys the rest from cree.

everyone would like to figure out a way around cree's crystal patents....can they? and can they do it cheaper?

westinghouse, GE and others have tried and failed...that is why my bet is on cree.
