I would probably agree with you at least if you are considering the long term effect (and since it happened about 100 years ago I would assume you are). However the poorest places in the world are probably not ready for such a change yet. They are in most ways less developed then the US was in 1900. Tim, Maybe so, but unlike the American poor of 1900, the third world poor know that a much, much better world exists beyond their own. So if we don't want world anarchy and/or every poor world citizen at our doorstep, then it may be best that we help them up the corporate ladder. ted
